How Body-Based Trauma Therapy Works
Embodied, trauma-informed therapy that supports real change
Real change happens when the nervous system experiences safety — not just when we understand things intellectually.
I work with adults who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or depleted — especially those who:
• Struggle to set boundaries
• Carry responsibility for others’ emotions
• Feel guilty for prioritising themselves
• Get easily triggered by stress or conflict
• Notice patterns repeating despite insight
This work goes beyond talk.
We work with your body, nervous system and felt experience so your system can learn safety and regulation — not just understanding.
A somatic, trauma-informed approach
Body-based therapy recognises that stress, anxiety and past experience don’t just live in thoughts — they live in the body.
In our sessions together, we gently support your nervous system to release what has been stored, regulated and held — so you experience less reactivity, more freedom and more confidence in your daily life.
I integrate proven, experiential methods that are always paced to you and chosen for your specific needs.
The tools I use
To support this process, I integrate several body-based therapeutic approaches that help the nervous system process and release patterns held in the body.
These are ways we work with your nervous system — not checkboxes you must meet.
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques / Tapping) – A body-based approach that reduces stress and shifts emotional patterns. It helps release stuck emotions and reduce anxiety.
Matrix Reimprinting – Allows past experiences to be gently re-processed with new internal resources and transforms limiting patterns.
Identity Healing – Supports shifting limiting internal beliefs and reconnecting with your authentic self.
Brainspotting – A somatic release method that works with eye-body connection and trauma patterns and is often experienced as a gentler alternative to EMDR. It locates and releases unresolved trauma stored in the body and nervous system.
Breathwork – Supports nervous system regulation, emotional release, and grounding.
Each method is selected with intention and always delivered in a safe, paced, client-led way.
What a session looks like
• Sessions are 70 minutes — longer than typical therapy so there’s space to go deeper.
• Your experience is collaborative; you remain in control.
• We explore both mind and body — noticing what is happening in your nervous system.
• You can come for a short series of sessions or work over time for deeper transformation.
Why this approach works
Working directly with the body and nervous system can create shifts that feel deeper than talk-only approaches, because it meets patterns where they are held — not just where they are understood intellectually. That often leads to:
• Less reactivity and overwhelm
• Greater emotional regulation
• Stronger internal boundaries
• A deeper sense of safety in yourself
