Brainspotting

Access and release unresolved trauma

Brainspotting helps you locate and process unprocessed trauma or stuck emotions stored in your body and nervous system. Many clients come feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in old patterns — this approach allows for deep, gentle processing without reliving trauma.

Sessions are safe, paced to your needs, and client-controlled.

What a session looks like

  • We identify where the body and mind are holding tension or unresolved emotion.

  • Using eye positions and focused attention, we gently access the underlying issues.

  • The nervous system is supported to process these experiences safely.

  • Clients often feel relief, emotional clarity, and an increased sense of safety in their body.

What it helps with

  • Trauma and PTSD symptoms

  • Anxiety, panic, or stress

  • Repeating emotional or relational patterns

  • Emotional overwhelm or high sensitivity

Brainspotting works at a deeper level than talk therapy alone,

addressing stored emotions directly through somatic processing.

Brainspotting and EMDR – what’s the difference?

Many people find my work while searching for EMDR, so you may be wondering how Brainspotting compares.

Both EMDR and Brainspotting work with eye position and focused attention to access and process trauma and unresolved emotional experiences stored in the brain and nervous system. Brainspotting was developed out of EMDR and is often considered an evolution of it, building on the same neurobiological principles while allowing for a more flexible, body-led process.

EMDR follows a structured protocol and uses bilateral stimulation while focusing on specific memories. Brainspotting, on the other hand, uses eye position to locate where the body is holding emotional or traumatic material and allows the nervous system to process it at its own pace, without forcing recall or cognitive processing.

Many clients — particularly those who are highly sensitive, have complex or developmental trauma, or feel easily overwhelmed — find Brainspotting to be gentler, deeper, and more contained. The work unfolds naturally, guided by your body’s responses rather than a set sequence, which can feel safer and more supportive.

If you were considering EMDR but felt unsure or concerned about intensity, Brainspotting may offer a more compassionate, nervous-system-led alternative.

Why it works

Brainspotting integrates neurobiological research and somatic therapy, allowing the nervous system to process stuck experiences naturally and safely.

My approach

I integrate Brainspotting with other somatic modalities for a personalised approach. Sessions are paced carefully to ensure your nervous system can process safely and effectively.
